Compared with traditional cast iron pipes, galvanized steel pipes, cement pipes and other pipes, plastic pipes have the advantages of energy conservation and material saving, environmental protection, light weight and high strength, corrosion resistance, smooth inner wall without scaling, simple construction and maintenance, long service life and so on. They are widely used in construction, municipal, industrial and agricultural fields such as building water supply and drainage, urban and rural water supply and drainage, urban gas, power and optical cable sheath, industrial fluid transmission, agricultural irrigation and so on.

Plastic is different from traditional materials. The pace of technological progress is faster. The continuous emergence of new technologies, new materials and new processes makes the advantages of plastic pipes more and more prominent compared with traditional materials. Compared with traditional metal pipe and cement pipe, plastic pipe has light weight, which is generally only 1/6-1/10 of metal pipe. It has better corrosion resistance, impact resistance and tensile strength. The inner surface of plastic pipe is much smoother than cast iron pipe, with small friction coefficient and fluid resistance. It can reduce the water transmission energy consumption by more than 5%. It has good comprehensive energy conservation, and the manufacturing energy consumption is reduced by 75%. It is convenient to transport, simple to install, and its service life is up to 30-50 years. Polyethylene pipes have developed rapidly in the world, and developed countries have an absolute advantage in the application of polyethylene pipes in the field of water supply and gas. Polyethylene pipes are not only widely used to replace traditional steel pipes and cast iron pipes, but also to replace PVC pipes. The reason lies in the technological innovation of polyethylene pipes. On the one hand, the material has made great progress. Through the improvement of polyethylene polymerization production process, the strength of polyethylene pipe special material has almost doubled. On the other hand, there are new developments in application technology, such as the technology of laying polyethylene pipes by directional drilling method without excavating pipe trenches, which gives full play to the advantages of polyethylene pipes, so that traditional pipes have no competitiveness in occasions suitable for this method. There are also many new materials and technologies being studied, or have been studied and tested. It is certain that the technological progress of plastic pipes in the next 10 years will promote the rapid development and wider application of plastic pipes.
